Point and Hold!

I love Irish dancing! I know I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I love Irish dancing! If you are looking for a fun, exercise/hobby you should try it! Lately it feels like all I do is dance, eat, do homework, sleep, dance, breathe, do homework and dance some more. I remember being just a kid and watching my beautiful aunt Becky dance onstage at different venues around Utah. I have always looked up to Becky. She is my hero. Anyway, I remember wishing I could dance too, and be in the spotlight... you know the rest. Becky started teaching my sisters and I, plus a few friends when I was eleven. Ever since I started, I just had this feeling like I couldn't stop! I'll probably still be doing a jig in my walker when I'm 90. Sometimes I just feel so happy about it, I can't even explain in words. It is something I am good at. I'm not too great at much, so it feels empowering to have a talent.

I especially am grateful for my school. As you know, I've never done competition and that is thanks to An Dragan! Plus my personality is seriously non-competitive. Haha I would probably be too scared to dance in front of judges. I think back to all the weird places I've danced at and I have so many good memories and good feelings that I don't think I would have, with doing something for a prize. Some of my favorite performances have been retirement homes, or ward parties. Just seeing the audience enjoy a dance makes it worth it.

Dance itself is wonderful for you! It is exercise, heart-pumping, hard work! Not only that, but dancing makes you happy. Something about moving your body and the beat of the music just gets under your skin. Today is just one of those days that I feel like jumping up and dancing! So here is a big thank you to An Dragan Ceilteach for teaching me, to my aunt Becky for inspiring me, to my sisters who will always dance with me, to my class who makes me a better dancer and person, to my students who make me laugh, and to everyone who has supported me and made me feel good about dancing. Dance to me is more than just dance, it is who I am, who I was, and who I want to be!

  2. I love to watch you dance! I think you have the perfect attitude toward it, too. I'm really competitive, unfortunately, so I think that my enjoyment of music has suffered a little bit because of it. :)
