Hard Work

We have a wood-burning stove. Yep. It heats the whole house during winter and I love it. You should stop by some January night when you fear you will never feel your toes again. Sometimes it is even too hot. Of course it makes my basement room colder than a Polar Bear's bum... but that's life... The only trouble with this little stove is that you have to use wood. This means our autumns are filled with days out in the garage stacking wood from all over. We gather it from construction sites. We get old trees from the A.F. parks and chop them up. It just wouldn't feel like fall without the smell of sawdust and the sound of the ax slicing through thick bark.

The Stack.

Emma awaiting the hammer. (yeah she didn't really swing the ax)

My beautiful stack job. If you can believe it, it has gotten even bigger!
We work before we play... or eat in this family:) Haha. We always have some annoying Irish rock blasting through the neighborhood. I am pretty sure the neighbors think we are hill-folk. Well, we pretty much are. Just need a few missing teeth to complete the picture.

  2. Ahahaha :) As much as I really hate it, I do miss those Fotheringham Freak days chopping wood like the family of hermits we are :)

  3. Way to be awesome and chop your own wood! That stove is the best and I can attest to its warmth.

  4. Love the stove and fall memories. BTW, how do you know what a polar bears bum feels like?
