France or Belgium?

Halloween! I live for this holiday. It really is the best one. I mean, free candy, crazy parties, masks, costumes, fall colors and food, and a celebration for the spooky in life? Woah! I go into overload just thinking about it. Right now we have Pumpkin Pie flavor frozen yogurt, and even though I don't like pumpkin pie itself, the yogurt version is pretty tasty! Just the mere presence of pumpkin in the store makes me smile.

This year I have struggled to find a costume. I need one too, because I decided to go to the Westminster Halloween dance. I went my Sophomore year and it was the best time ever. I figured I might as well make some more college memories my last year:) My former co-worker and movie watching buddy is coming with, so needless to say, it will be fantastical...
But back to the costume dilemma. I really wanted to be a skeleton, I mean death, creepy, Donnie Darko, what's not to love? Unfortunately, the more I searched, the more impossible it became. Apparently only small children still dress up as skeletons. I seemed a bit large to fit into any of those ones.

Then by chance, I found a fake mustache at a costume store and it hit me, Poirot! If you haven't read any Poirot books by Agatha Christie, now it the time to start. I love him. He is my hero, I know he is a fictional character, but still. He loves the law, he loves truth, and justice, and order. I also understand he is an old man, so presumably no one will understand who I am trying to be, but at least all of you will know:)

Some quotes by the lovable detective:

“It is the brain, the little gray cells on which one must rely. One must seek the truth within--not without." ~ Poirot”

“Poirot said placidly, “One does not, you know, employ merely the muscles. I do not need to bend and measure the footprints and pick up the cigarette ends and examine the bent blades of grass. It is enough for me to sit back in my chair and think. It is this – ” he tapped his egg-shaped head – “this, that functions!”

“Oh! Do not excite yourself. Shall I say that he interested me because he was trying to grow a mustache and as yet the result is poor." Poirot stroked his own magnificent mustache tenderly. "It is an art," he murmured, "the growing of the mustache! I have sympathy for all who attempt it.”

"I, who have undoubtedly the finest brain in Europe at present, can afford to be magnanimous!"

Isn't he wonderful? Also here is a trailer-thing for an episode done by the BBC a few years ago on the book "Murder on the Orient Express". Really intriguing mystery, and the show was awesome. Check it out and thank me later!

Update:

Here is a terribly blurry photo of my costume attempt

  3. Aaaaah, this is the best idea ever!! I definitely want pics. I read a ton of Agatha Christie this summer..."Murder in Mesopotamia" was pretty good, though "Murder on the Orient Express" is still the best.
