A stack of books.

This semester my favorite class has been Utah History. It surprised me, because all my life I was forced to learn about the history of Utah from church, elementary and junior high school and I never really enjoyed it. I thought it was sooo boring. I think the class this year has been the most interesting of all my classes. Firstly, the professor isn't from here so he has a totally new perspective for me to learn from. It helps me see how Utah is so unique. Second, the professor is super excited about it. He did his thesis about Utah history when he was in school and has recently published a book about it. Third, it connects to every part of my life! I live here. I stand on the ground that my ancestors did. History is so important and that is why I love it. It establishes the world and your place in it. It sets up all the possibilities you have to make a difference. And it creates a foundation for you to stand on. A stable society needs to know their own past. Where they come from and where they've been. Only then can you move forward.

Have you ever had a class, or a teacher or maybe even a book that changed your perspective or at least inspired you in some way?

  1. I never knew learning French would be such a tedious task ;)

But I really loved AP language last year; Mr. Durham showed us how to love to write :)
