I didn't choose the plant life, the plant life chose me...

Sorry about that title... not sure what I was thinking there. Anyway I am going to blog more about my plant because well, it's life is a little more interesting than my life right now. Don't judge...

So my grandmother gave me this little guy a year ago maybe? From the very start we bonded. I could tell we were going to have a long and happy life together:) I named him Simba. You know because he is African and fuzzy. I gave him a little place in the front room window that gets an ample amount of sunshine and he just loved it! Simba spent his days sunning his furry little leaves, blooming delicate pink flowers and growing and growing. I'm sure he thinks about different things, like when I am ever coming to water him, the portly garbage man who mysteriously appears every week and the curious piano students who pet his leaves. So Simba continued in this way for many months and soon was growing uncomfortable in his tiny pot. One day my friend came down from college and I began telling her Simba's story. One thing led to another and soon we had split him into two other pots. Yes, Simba had his first two children: Kovu and Kiara. I gave Kovu to my friend to take to college with her. Last I heard, Kovu has been thriving and blossoming. I kept Kiara (because she was in a hideous pot I painted when I was twelve) and she has been producing blossoms like there's no tomorrow. But unfortunately I had run out of pots, and Simba was left in his confined space. This was the result taken just a few days ago.

Simba had become less of an African violet and more of an African bush... (insert pun here)

Anyway, after my successful pot-buying venture, Simba had four more children! (maybe now they are considered grandchildren?) The two little ones I plan to give as gifts are Timon and Pumbaa. The bigger ones I like to call Mufasa and Sarabi. Haha I am so clever:) Here is the finished result:

Here Simba and Kiara are in the center.

Now I have way too many African violets... If anyone wants one I would be only too happy to oblige!

Thanks for putting up with my snooze-worthy posts!

  3. Love your post Megan! We enjoyed your names too. I would love to take one of you're precious children, but alas I would kill it. Our house is certain doom for house plants. Good luck! :)
