I just love my job! It is so great. Sometimes I take it for granted, and sometimes it gives me a headache. But everything has its ups and downs. So here are the ups and downs of the workplace:)
Start with the good shall we?
Meeting new people
I know I am not a very talkative person, but sometimes the mood strikes me. I like to get to know the regulars. There is one old guy who comes in every Thursday after work and he recently had to get some toenails removed for medical reasons! Ah! I would die. There is also this really nice lady from a construction place who pops in every now and then. She is a great tipper:)
The Management
Both my bosses are super awesome people. The owner is so nice and he always likes to chat. My manager is also super nice and understanding. She is always trying to get all of us a raise:) I am glad they can be relaxed about some things, but they are also always looking to improve the store somehow and make it a better place to work.
Food
Probably not good for my health, but I get free yogurt! haha I eat a lot. The best part is mixing new things. Sometimes I am struck with an idea of some topping to try and sometimes it is great and sometimes I want to puke my creations.
Mopping
I love mopping! Mainly because Pine Sol is involved. Is there a better cleaning smell? I love the moment when I pour the Pine Sol in the big bucket and the bubbles magically start appearing. The reason I love this job so much is because the floor is white tile and you can see exactly your progress. It is so satisfying to see a shiny white floor at the end of the night!
The Bad/Nasty
Bathrooms
Yuck! I hate cleaning the bathrooms. Especially the men's. Is it hard to aim or something? because I absolutely cleaning urine!!!! Let's move on...
Bleach
We use bleach water to clean the table tops, and pretty much everything else. The bleach is awful on your skin! My hands always look super decrepit and dry and my nails fall apart at the slightest touch.
Stocking the Fridge
I don't love this. First there are a lot of heavy boxes and I have no arm strength. After I am done I look like a sweaty gorilla. Then sometimes the yogurt cartons leak! Most times you end up mopping a sticky mess.
The Dumb Question
So there is this question. It doesn't get asked very often, but when it does it kind of bothers me. "Are these spoons clean?"..... Yes. I know that is all I have to say, but why wouldn't they be clean? Why would I leave a huge bowl of spoons in a convenient spot for costumers if they were dirty? For one, they are plastic. If there is a dirty one, it just goes in the garbage. We aren't washing them and reusing them. Who knows, maybe some of them have had horrible dirty spoon accidents in the past. I just don't get that question.
Yay! Work!! What would we do without you and your partially free yogurt?!?
ReplyDeleteLet me know when you work this week. Evie's been asking to go there and get yogurt and see Megan ! :) We need to see what new flavors you have.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like your job. Free yogurt woo! I'd get so fat if I worked there. :) Cleaning bathrooms = gross. Men get bathrooms so dirty.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they ask about the dirty spoons because at Cold Stone they give you spoons to test taste flavors and then you deposit them into a thing on the counter.
This week I work friday and saturday night... haha after the wedding I guess:)
ReplyDeleteWe are supposed to be getting red velvet flavor sometime soon...
I think you are right about the spoons Deb! Now I am craving cold stone...
